Tim Aley

Tim is an accomplished turner as well as a wood carver. Tim coordinates the Montgomery County Wood Turners (MCW) participation in the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair and can be seen each year in the Old Timers Area manning the pole lathe.



Bert Bleckwenn

An avid furniture maker, turner and carver. Bert was instrumental in organizing and leading several local woodworking related local organizations including the Montgomery County Carvers (MCC), Montgomery County Wood Turners (MCW) and the Chesapeake Society of American Period Furniture Makers (C-SAPFM). Bert continues to promote all the clubs with his “Working Wood” facilitation at a variety of local venues.

Bert periodically offers Sharpening Clinics to aid MCC members in taking their sharpening skills to the next level.



Bob Browning

Bob loves turning, carving and dabbles in a variety of related activities such as custom tool making. Bob was the poster child for the Montgomery County Turners demonstrating turning at the pole lathe.



Steve Bushby

Steve has recently started exploring the world of carving after his wife gave him a starter set of carving tools for Christmas. He is looking forward to more carving time.


Tina Chisena

Tina is an accomplished artist exploring a variety of media including jewelry making, turning and carving.


Joe Clark

Joe has been active in all facets of wood related activities including chair making, furniture making, turning and carving. He enjoys making gifts for family and friends each year and always has new projects on the horizon.

Joe’s current endeavor is carving a large gargoyle!


Margaret Follas

Margaret likes to combine her wood turning and chip carving expertise in creating beautiful platters, bowls and vessels. She is an expert at chip carving and tackles challenging woods exposing the beauty of the wood as well as executing her intricate designs.


Dale Hall

Dale is a meticulous carver, exploring a variety of carving styles such as beautiful cotton wood bark houses, caricatures in golf balls, painted Dala Horses and a variety of spoon styles. He is a regular blue ribbon winner at the annual Agricultural Fair.

Micheal Higgs

Micheal has enjoyed carving since we got his first pocket knife as a child. Micheal’s rendition of volunteers washing the Vietnam Memorial is a true inspiration. Micheal teaches introductory carving classes at the local Woodworkers Club / Woodcraft. Michael has been a regular participant in the annual Renaissance Festival.


Val Hildebrand

Val is a member of the carving group that meets at Holiday Park Senior Center on Friday’s from 1-3 and just recently joined MCC.


Ed Kerns

Ed likes to spend time carving in his family room while watching his favorite Nationals baseball team. Ed likes exploring designs in cottonwood bark, spoon designs and Pacific Northwest Native American totem designs.


John Laffan

John enjoys both wood turning and wood working along with exploring scroll saw creations. John actively supports the carving club by organizing meetings and events and leading special projects such as MCC’s carving display on exhibit at The Woodworkers Club and coordinating MCC’s participation in the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.


Imelda Rocha

Imelda likes exploring both wood turning and wood carving. She is one of the regulars at the carving and turning demonstration tents at the annual Montgomery County Agricultural fair.
